As a member of the Durham Association of Boys and Girls Clubs (DABGC), Sunderland Harriers have the rare opportunity of National Club competition for younger athletes and one which in previous years has proved a happy and bonding experience.

We have been invited to enter the NABGC County Championships giving the Club a chance to win Age Group trophies and athletes the chance to win individual medals.

This year's National Championships are to be held at Shildon Running and Athletics Club, DL4 2EP, on Sunday 24th May 2026 with registration 11:00-11:30.

We have been invited to enter a team made up of U12, U14, U16, U18, and U20 squads. In addition to a 4x100m relay in each age group and gender the events covered are:-
U12 - 75m, 200m, 800m, HJ, LJ, and SP.
U14 - 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, HJ, LJ, and SP. (The same athlete cannot compete in the 800m and 1500m)
U16 - 100m, 200m, 300m(boys only), 800m, 1500m, HJ, LJ, TJ(boys only) SP, DT, and JT. (The same athlete cannot compete in the 800m and 1500m)
U18 - 100m, 200m, 300m(women only), 400m(men only), 800m, 1500m, 3000m(men only), HJ, LJ, TJ(men only), SP, DT, and JT.
U20 - 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m(men only), HJ, LJ, TJ(men only), SP, DT, and JT.

Clubs are entitled to enter two competitors in each individual event, of which there are 90 should you wish to count. However each U12 competitor may enter two events plus the relay; U14s, U16s, and U18s three plus relay, and U20s four plus relay.

Points mean prizes, so we are looking for as many athletes as possible who wish to represent Sunderland Harriers, hopefully in as many events as possible. Additionally any parents, guardians, and anyone else who can officiate either qualified or unqualified are invited to offer their time.

This competition has been a fun-filled event previously so please contact Club coaches or officials as quickly as possible and certainly by Friday 8th May 2026 to help bring the team together.
