Whilst much of the focus last weekend was on the National Cross-Country, on Tyneside Steve Rankin chalked up his first win of 2016 with a dominant performance in the Run Newcastle Valentine's 10k. Rankin's time of 34:14 saw him take the crown by 11 seconds. In 21st place, with a battling new Personal Best of 43:04, Karl Robinson enjoyed his best run for some time, auguring well for further improvement as the year progresses.

On the opposite side of the country, on the undulating country roads of West Cumbria, Noel Hitchcock finished third, first Over-35 in the Netherhall 10. Noel's time was 58:45
