SUNDERLAND HARRIER PAUL REDMAN RACES TO OVER-50 CROWN IN GIBSIDE TRAIL

Sunderland Harrier Paul Redman won the Over-50 section of the tough Blackhill Bounders Gibside Trail race yesterday.

He finished 22nd overall in clocking 49.36 for the approximate distance of seven miles, showing he is in good form in winning his category by over three minutes in front of South Shields Harrier Michael Jones (52.53).

Ashington’s Kurt Heron took the race (43.00) ahead of the host club’s Jordan Bell (43.09) with Morpeth’s John Butters in third (43.49).

Morpeth also provided the winner of the women’s race in Gemma Floyd (50.53) from Anna McLean from Low Fell (54.44) and Durham’s Kim Simpson in third (54.59).

Sunderland Harrier Andy Powell set a personal best in the in the high quality Abbey Dash 10km in Leeds yesterday.

He dipped under 32 minutes for the first time in finishing 69th (31.55)....
