Reasons for joining: I was invited to join by Kevin Carr and Ken Jefferson. This was after finishing 3rd U13 (10:41) at the Farringdon Open cross country races on Saturday 18th September 2004.
Favourite distance: Any relay leg (approx. 2mi to 5km), I love the team element of the sport.
Favourite race/meet: BUCS 2012 which was a test event for the Olympic Games.

Meet Nathan, Men’s Team Captain.

Sporting hero (Athletics): The Ingebrigtsen brothers

Sporting hero (Not athletics): Ricky Hatton

Best race/performance: As a junior finishing 9th in the English National Cross Country and leading the team to Bronze medals. As a senior my best performance was finishing 8th in the 3000m at BUCS indoors in 2014 just behind Dan Nash (World 50km bronze medallist 2019) and Josh Griffiths (World champs 2017 and Commonwealth games 2018 competitor). It felt like a breakthrough race it is just a shame my athletics career headed in the opposite trajectory to those just ahead of me.

Proudest moment: Winning a team Silver medal at the Northern 5km champs (Incorporated in the Sunderland 5km) in 2019. This was my first time competing at the event since 2015 due to years of injury problems. It had been my aim for four years to win a medal at the Northern on home soil and after 4 years of ups and mostly downs it came off!

Target for next 12 months: Firstly, to stay injury free and enjoy my running. Then the main aim is to run a PB over any distance as I haven’t ran a PB since 2014!
