Sunderland Harriers had four athletes racing over the marathon distance down at Manchester this morning.
The course is well-known for being one of the flattest in the country, producing very quick times. A record field of 32,000 were totally 'mad for it' as they took advantage of near perfect conditions. And quick times our quartet ran as they bludgeoned their personal bests.
Liam Walshaw was the first Harrier home as he knocked 11 minutes off his personal best to cross the line in 2 hours, 33 minutes, And 42 seconds. Next,...

Open to Cross Country Teams and Runners of All Abilities. A Shorter Course For Junior Athletes Allow An Early Introduction To Cross Country Events. Held Annually in September attracting teams from all over the North of England

Prospective members of all abilities are welcome to join Sunderland Harriers from the age of nine years-old. The club provides coaching, facilities and opportunities for all members to participate in athletics and improve their performance.
The presence of athletes necessitates the need for skilled individuals to guide and train them, making coaching an indispensable profession.
At Sunderland Harriers, a team of committed volunteers serves as coaches. Some of them have emerged from competitive athletics backgrounds, while others have discovered their aptitude for coaching by accompanying their own children to the club.
All the coaches at Sunderland Harriers hold licenses and undergo training by England Athletics at different levels of proficiency and accountability. To reinforce their coaching team, Sunderland Harriers offers assistance in acquiring coaching qualifications in a preferred discipline and achieving a desirable level of expertise, while also providing support throughout the coaching journey.
